Rod Holder Gun rack
Simple PVC.
Rod holder piece is notched, but a bit loose. Replacing with trolling butt would be a nice firm upgrade. Out in some 2+ rollers the other day, and everything stayed where it should. Simple, removable, cheap. |

Re: Rod Holder Gun rack
That is a good idea. I would think the butts would kick out. Has that happened yet? I have an idea to to deal with that if it is a problem.

I thought it would be a problem also, which is why I tried that stupid paracord across the bottomish. Turns out, they don't move much at all. However, I never run with sustained pounding. I have had a few slamming landings, (not repeatedly), and they have been solid.

Re: Rod Holder Gun rack
You also should design a cover into the rack to cover the rubbers. The sun will break them down.

Word. I've asked my hobbyist seamstress mother to make me some band socks.

Re: Rod Holder Gun rack
My son and I built this one today. Still need to have the edge routed and finish the spare shaft holder and knife holder but you get the idea. I scribed it to fit the shape of the gunnel too. Two screws will attach it to the existing teak rod holders. Took about 3 hours so far, measuring each piece because it's not square.

Re: Rod Holder Gun rack
It's got 4 spots for reef guns and three other spots for 2 Hnans and a fat back koah.
I made it out of PVC facia board that I was supposed to put on the house. |

Re: Rod Holder Gun rack
Just a tip for anyone using PVC for projects. As a nice finishing touch to the project, remove all the markings/ink from the pipe using a rag and acetone. Also, use the CLEAR glue. You can clean up the purple using the acetone, just takes longer. Makes projects look more like a pro mod than a garage hack
