I suppose you misunderstood me.You said you are using soft bands 18 mm.I have measured hard reactive bands 16 mm that store same amount of loading energy like soft 18 mm bands.Thinner bands release equal ammount better. I use all kinds of band sizes,from 14 to 19 mm in different combinations,but I stick to hard rubber and this is how equvalent energy potencial is stored in less band volume.
After many experiments I think I found the best bands for me.One of the main signs of good bands is that they dont loose quality in cold water.Here I can test them at 5 Celsius in the winter.Such bands have better contraction speed in warm water and less deformation and wearing.And these are always hard reactive bands.If somebody says-I dont like hard bands,the solution is-just put one size thinner and you will get better performance
