Stolen Gear! S. Pas / Highland Park LA

Update: Car found in LAPD Hollenbeck's territory, after twelve days. Signs of being rode far, and hard, real hard, but already belongs to Insurance Co.

Paddle and pole spear the only things not stolen. Go figure.

So my car was stolen in the Highland Park / South Pasadena area last night with a s-load of kayak, fishing, diving gear. Ready for a week off of tooling around down the coast.

Yeah it was all beneath the rear cover, I packed it at work in a private lot, and the vehicle has no hobby stickers betraying valuable contents, so it's just a random act of sociopathic thievery. Eff thieves.

Stolen (besides my old pos cr-v with 248k miles, lol, and miscellaneous crap that collects in a car owned for 18 years):

Kayak Gear
Seat with a broken zipper.
Nearly destroyed gray and blue PFD with signal whistle and mirror
Adventure Technology Ergo Paddle. $$$. Carbon handle, white fiberglass paddle
Red 10L dry bag, holding clothing items.
Columbia PFG Sun Hoodie, white with american flag graphics
White, Tan sun hoods and tore-up sun gloves
Green XL speedo, lol
Lifeguard style woven straw hat
Thule rack with kayak saddles
Red Offroad Crocs, which usually were left in plain view to throw off thieves, i.e. "Can't possibly be anything of value here."

Medium size otterbox, brown and clear w/fishing licenses, grrrrr
2ft fiberglass gaff
Basspro bogo knockoff
Giant dive stringer, homemade from a spear shaft
Scottie conventional rod holder

Opportunistic Tackle Box (red plastic Folgers container, black lid, yellow lash cord with small tuna clips, fits perfect in a 6" hatch)
1 each white and chrome/blue surface iron and yoyo jigs
Couple each lucky craft 125, bomber long shot 5" crankbaits, in fluorescent chartreuse and custom painted dark bronze
Some jig heads and powerbait swimbaits, in white and dark brown red flake
Miscellaneous live bait hooks, mostly Owner, little spools of 40 and 20 fluoro
Some 1/2oz - 1oz tungsten pitching weights and powerbait worms, gamakatsu 5/0 hooks, miscellaneous plastics.
The small stuff is packed in unusual containers, re-purposed bio lab plasticware, boxes, vials. Very distinctive.

"Opportunistic Summer Dive" stuff
Cheap black mask, low volume style
Large Rob Allen "Cray Bag" holding most of the gear
Homemade cable stringer
Hyperflex Access gloves, some glue patches
Sporasub? camo snorkel with fluoro tip
Shortie Silicone Fins, mostly gray, Speedo
Earplugs. Good ones.
Argos booties
Sporasub Black 1.5mm lined 2-pce waist-high and beavertail suit, XL, some seams giving
Generic belt rubber with 4 TinMan weights, ~9lb
Oyster knife, modified, sharpened tip, serrated sides
MY MFING LINGHUNT 3-PIECE POLESPEAR WITH PARALYZER

Can only hope my car's on channel 9 tonight, "tragic end for suspects in a stolen car chase" or something. I'm all about understanding and compassion, but thieves and bullies can die painfully and go through the wood chipper, so Yahveh can't make them rise whole at the resurrection.

Sorry, I'm a little vulnerable now.

Cross-posting to CA Forum, if there's a problem with that lemme know.

Sorry to Hear about your loss. Another LingHunt Pole stolen. There are a few stolen off of charter dive boats.

Watch your gear.

Thanks John, my "stuff" hurts to lose and is a hassle to replace, but the car was part of our family.

The silver (or aluminum) lining is that the pole is not lost! The paddle and the pole spear were tucked under the seatback carpet, and the rear deck was tarped, so they went unseen.

Thanks man. Probably the tweaky freaks but you'd think they'd have taken more stuff. Which reminds me to swing by the thrift shops around the recovery area again.

Most of our friends would see pot as more of a destination than a gateway, lol.

And meanwhile, gearing up for the weekend, discovered that the short yellow float line and dinged up kelp carrot I bought from trace a year or so back was among the stolen gear. Eff... thieves.
