Re: kayak diving question
Put your hands on the kayak so it wont flip when you push down on it (i do one hand on each side). Kick up (its much easier with fins on), turn around, and sit down in the kayak. Then swing your legs in. its pretty simple once you get it down

Re: kayak diving question
I have a SOT kayak so I just slide on like a beached whale! LOL
It was nice having a small island of refuge from the black-tips the other day - Gonna start spearing from my yak more often!

Re: kayak diving question
Get in just like in the video the paddle position is not an issue you should attach it to your yak before you swim off. If not it may not be there when you get back. Mine was swept off by a wave luckly a passing kayaker noticed it and brought it back to me. The mile paddle back with my arms would have sucked.
When you get on your yak roll over as mentioned then drop your weight belt into the bottom of your yak. It will be easer to sit up and will give you a lower center of gravity. Make sure before you head in that you secure all your gear inside if possable or strap one wave or lean in the wrong direction can turn you overand dump all your gear on the bottom. Add a couple of pool noodles inside your yak. empty it is already negitivly bouyant with gear it is even heaver. Make sure you close the hatches when you leave it.

Re: kayak diving question
Notwithstanding that all the previous advice is good advice...You're a 17 year old kid....You'll figure it out and shouldn't have too much trouble.
My other two cents: You obviously have zero kayak diving experience. So make your first dive(s) in favorable conditions and not too far from your launch point. Hate to paddle 3 or 4 miles and find out you forgot your anchor or weight belt or some other necessary piece of equipment. The larger list of equipment involved with kayak diving (vs. shore diving) inevitably leads to a higher chance of forgetting something. Don't ask me how I know... One last thing. If you have concerns about getting back in the boat, on your maiden voyage just put it in the water with your wetsuit on and before loading your guns and gear and do a few trial runs in 6' of water next to shore. If there are any issues with you getting back in, better to find out next to shore. Good luck |

Re: kayak diving question
keep your body low kinda draped over your boat untill your ready to drop your but in the seat. if your using tanks, while still in the water get your rig on the oposite side of the boat as you and drag it into the tank well
