Why did he sell it to you so cheap? If he bought it and spent a couple gs on it

When you get a seemingly good deal on something, do you ask the person why they are selling it so cheap??

Re: Look what I scored on Craigslist $50.00

Now I am not talking about the above mentioned scooter.....however if a person was to buy a widget that was worth at least a thousand dollars for lets say 50 bucks then was caught with stolen a stolen widget and subsequently had to go court after being arrested for possessing said widget.
The first question his honor may ask is, did you know the true value of that widget and didn't you suspect it may be stolen based on the ridiculously low price.

Seems like Slusher did his due diligence and got a hell of a bargain, but John is right if it seems to good to be true, it probably is. John always cover your back if you don't ask, it could be stolen. I am sure Kabob isn't suggesting you buy stolen property.

If you DO ask and they say "No!", it could still be stolen. For the sake of good negotiating, yes, you don't ask "Why is it so cheap?" You just have to get a general feeling for the legitimacy of the transaction by doing things like the OP did - checking out included paperwork, boxes, asking questions about the use of the product, etc.

If you CAN ever get a serial # or anything like that before you actually transact, which is a slim chance with something that's such a steal of a deal, then you could go to the website of your local sheriff and a lot of the departments have searchable stolen item databases.

Congrats to slusher for the deal of the year!

Re: Look what I scored on Craigslist $50.00

Tyson, I think you agreed with my point. John never inferred asking the seller. Why is it so cheap, he asked Slusher that question.
By the way NMEA starter kit and fuel sensor is on the way....thanks for the other info
