How come the fish in my GoPro footage look so small?

The title says it all. The fish look miniscule when I go back and watch the footage. I had a monster 25-30lb red snapper swim up on my yesterday, and when I viewed the footage it looked about 12lbs. Triggerfish I had speared that were pretty decent sized looked like babies on the end of my polespear. Is there a zoom setting, or is it because I use a head mount and the camera is farther away from the target then if I were to use a gun mount?

Thanks in advance.

PS. Go ahead, get it out of your systems and tell me to shoot bigger fish
