[quote=Sasha;1489393]Late again, My good bruda trice, his uncle passed on home after a battle with cancer during fourth of july. We went out picked Opihi, and 3 pronged Kole and pakakui. We catch, Aunty clean em. One uncle brought a domestic pig, the other we hunted down the night before with the dogs. Good fun, good grinds. Where we dove was private land. We got permission to dive as long as we grabbed 1 male bug for the owner out of his 1 acre private salt lagoon/pond. Unreal the setting! Thanx Aloha[/QUO
Right on hawaiian, we just did one small kole dive the other day. |

Re: Ka'u Kane Kai
How goes it skindivahz, been mostly night diving since Bug season opened. super stoked! Been drooling waiting for sept 1. Went Spt the other night. Bruda trice and I did the light house. Was a bit surgy, was 10 ft inside a nice puka when the jet stream sucked me in. Bounced the side of the wall, Ripped a nice flap off the shoulder of my top. Lookin down i was hopin no flesh was part of the flap. Stoked! no Manu feed scent comin off me. Was chilly the rest of the dive. Slim pickins, moon was still high. we got wet at 9:30PM, out at 1:00AM. Most of the bugs i came across i had to release cuz they were still pregnant. I only scored 5, Trice pulled in 8. Thanx Aloha

Re: Ka'u Kane Kai
Put in the zody and ran 6 miles towards kahuku ranch. Found the most mental pinnacles that came up from 120ft to 40 ft from the surface. Never dove this bay before. We threw out some Palu , but no current. We decided to hang on the inside for some reef action...mmmm so ono uhu steamed in coconut, sweet chilly sauce, garlic, ginger, jimmy dean broken up sausage, green onion, mayo, and salt and pepa. Aloha

Went on a night dive with some older japanese uncles. Not spear guys, strictly bug grabbaz. Shredder the older uncle, like a under water vacuum! Was good fun seeing older generation style killin it.

Re: Ka'u Kane Kai
Put the zody in ran east for Ulua. Making way towards the houses I know of sun is up, wind a mild 10k. killer day! I throw hook at the spot, make the jump and start my vent breathes. A few minutes in and im feelin an even baseline. I make the drop to the house, on approach to the top of the mouth in 60ft. I see this nice Tako tryin to put on the you dont see me pose. I make the grab and snatch em up and start swimming for air. While dealing with the Tako and his nice ink cloud, a FRKN dozer Ulua 100#+ swims outta his house and swims 3 circles under me while i have this 10# tako half wrapped around me and several wraps around my hybrid shaft and handle. Trying to just get the stubborn tako off so I can reclaim my gun for the shot was pure comedy!. The great Ulua swims off laughing at me. Some reefers and the Tako was my consolation for the dive. Aloha

Re: Ka'u Kane Kai
Went out to the lanes at the deep hole for some pelagics. Nobody was home so I swam back in to the ledge, maybe i'll get into some an Uku or Kahala I thought. Saw two small Uku about 5-7# each, pass. A little while after a nice Kahala came in. Layed into starboard side. Death shakes then pau, on the kui to the penko dip. Aloha

Re: Ka'u Kane Kai
Im down! I should be back on oahu sometime in march I really wanna hit up BI for bluewater ha or reef either way im sure you all got choke fish/tako compared to oahu. I normally grab He'e for sliding only eaten a few pretty good grindz but prefer fish ha. My fav. to take is uhu I make a mean uhu parm. Havnt even had it local style with the sausage and mayo yet. Ive only seen a few ulua havnt taken any yet. And only been bluewater twice saw some small aku but they were flying by like bullets and i had a 64'' cannon so it was a no go. I need to get me a big mahi or ono before I leave hawaii

Re: Ka'u Kane Kai
Pulled out and headed to the deep hole. Water was super clear. At 80' you could see the floor which was at 180'. Makes you feel like you can hold air for ever. After I Ran out of palu, Was gonna call it a day when two Ono rolled through. I threw one of the spoons on my belt. They usually sink to fast to coordinate a shot, and rarely work for me. I chucked the spoon high so i could get a little lead start on the descent. I aimed in front of there path, and got the curious turn around from the smaller of the two(of coarse). He gives me a broadside target. Holy shet it worked!SO stoked! Fish in me belly soon. Aloha
