Freediving Ohio - Gilboa Quarry
If your around Gilboa or driving through Ohio on I75 it worth stopping in.
The viz is usually 25-50ft, has alot of structure like an airplane, helicopter and school buss. There is no fishing or spearing but the owner stocks the quarry so the fish are big (trout, bass, bluegill, paddlefish). Most of the structure is 20-60ft and the quarry goes to 140ish. There is a thermancline at 25-35ft with a 15 degree drop in temp. Another at 50-60ft. The owner requires you dive with a buddy which is wise any way. Quarry access fee is 28$ for scuba and freediving. |

That's only a few hours away from me. It looks like a fun place. Did you see the paddle fish and sturgeon?

Hay Paul, its worth the drive...a group of us usually dive at least every other week there. We usually post when on a facebook group - Ohio freediving and spearfishing.
