OctoSub Spearguns

Well here is another gun maker from the Antipodes, Octosub.
https://www.octosub.com.au/

Eating octopus will never be the same if they were all like the critter on their home page banner, bring out the chainsaw!

This is their largest gun the "Capricorn", but other guns are in the works. All appear to be rear biased mid-handles with band elevator ramps at the muzzles. There is even a pink version in a light colored timber. The use of band elevators means they do not have to scallop the top deck for band troughs on either side of the top deck, but not sure of what types of wishbone are used.

While I don't doubt that those guns kill fish, and do it very well indeed, I still find hard to swallow the lack of curves. They look somewhat simplistic! Eficiente? Yes. But not aesthetically pleasing, at least for me!

What do you mean? They clearly own a roundover bit?

IDK what it is with builders choosing to take a square and install parts hit with a roundover and call it a day, but its lazy as hell.

They can use less timber and not cut so much away which contains the costs. If you look at the photos you can see a join that provides the depth in front of the grip handle tapering up to the muzzle. On the production racks the guns will stack closer than they would with curves in the plan view, which we have no photos of yet.

Curves are where it’s at. Wood is barely an expense compared to hardware anyway.

Re: OctoSub Spearguns

When I made this gun I threw away a lot of timber as bar the muzzle cap the gun is all one piece. Otherwise the gun would have busted when the "second act" fired. It didn't!

Re: OctoSub Spearguns

If I'm not mistaken, Octosub doesn't really specialize in wooden guns. What I know them for is having made composite Bluewater Mid Handles.. Those funny colored guns are composite. Fiberglass/Carbon, not sure what they are using. But they are not Composite wrapped wooden guns.. they are full composite. Pretty cool. I think they're a bunch of Aussie Mikes.

Unfortunately their website is down, I only received that last photo from someone who knows the company, but have no other details.

Let's not forget Monica Belucci, please....

But back to the topic on hand (not that hand, the OTHER hand), when I think curves I am talking about Abellan-like curves. Or some guns crafted by DMC here int he forum...

Re: OctoSub Spearguns

I have a new gun model I'm working on designed after Monica Belucci. I think you will like.
