Re: Wetsuit Lubes vs. Conditioner

You're using an open cell suit? Just put the mixture on the suit.

Re: Wetsuit Lubes vs. Conditioner

Lubes aren't as effective on nylon lined suits. You shouldn't need it. Other than that, it's just a matter of figuring it out for yourself.

Honestly, lubing a wetsuit isn't as big of a deal as the scare mongers want you to believe. I don't know where it got started that open cell wetsuits are at all difficult to put on, especially fragile, or that lubing them is a real inconvenience. Probably scuba suit manufacturers to be honest.

The fact that you're looking into lube for a scuba suit is proof positive that nylon lining doesn't make a wetsuit much easier to put on, definitely more difficult than lubed unlined suits. Putting on a freedive farmer john is easier than putting on a pair of jeans.

Well that sucks :P

I will give the Curecare a shot anyways now that I have a gallon of it sitting here looking at me.

I have always had wetsuits made of the "traditional" neoprene material (nylon on both sides) and putting on while wet has always been something I dread having to do.

Thanks for the replies!

I did see this product but when I started reading the reviews on Amazon, a few people pointed out that some of the ingredient might be toxic to human and the label even warns of that.

Even though I don't plan on putting this into/onto my "Peritoneal cavity", hair conditioner sounds a lot safer than this lube.

So how long have you guys been using this? Any Peritoneal cavity issues? JK

Re: Wetsuit Lubes vs. Conditioner

have you tried the plastic bag trick? (put a grocery bag on your foot like a sock before you try to put on your farmer johns). It might help.

I had a lot of trouble getting into my 7mil suit the last time I tried it too... Of course I gained 30 lbs since I had it custom made over a decade ago. I've retired that suit.

Re: Wetsuit Lubes vs. Conditioner

I use a plastic bag on my feet to put on my closed cell suit for scuba diving and I use cure care on open cell suit for freediving. I mix mine 6 parts water to 1 part cure care. One gallon has lasted me for over a year now.
