Mr. Paul, what kind a gun is the shooter holding in that picture you posted!?

The previous record was bs. You could tell the fish clearly didn't weigh what it was claimed to be.

I was talking about this:

Jaime DaSilva's record cobia—54.50 kilograms (120.1 pounds)

I witnessed both weigh-ins and supervised the documentation of both applications. Also, I know personally both divers. I take offense by your statement, as I'm sure would too my fellow committee officers at IUSA and IBSRC, who, diligently as ever, went through the applications then.

Edit: Jaime didn't want to apply to both organizations. Later on, he told me he couldn't afford two fees, being a diver of humble means.

As I understand it that's Bill Ernst's homemade titanium hybrid gun that he made in the 1980's and still uses. Here's a quote from Terry Maas in an old thread:

On the subject of the WR cobia, that's pretty epic.

I am sorry that you take offense to my comment. I have caught a ridiculous amount of Cobia in my lifetime. I know what a 104lb Cobia looks like. Maybe the scale was off or something but there is no way that fish is 104lbs in the picture above. He is even holding the fish at an angle which makes fish look bigger but it still looks small. Unless the guy holding the fish is over 7ft and 275lbs, that fish is not 104lbs. The head is tiny and the body isn't thick enough.

I had a flounder record for IUSA. I know the process that is necessary to submit a record. It's not very extensive. The main concern is you just have make sure the scale has been certified.

Don't be sorry. So either I am dishonest or an idiot, or both, unaware of a scale being off or to evaluate a fish size in my 39 years of spearfishing. This is BS. I'm off this forum, LADVR is right.
