I recommend a shore dive with the new wifey at Santa Maria beach or Chileno beach. Scout it out and if you like what you see, go back with your gun, early or late when the tourists are gone.

If you go to santa maria, stop at costco or walmart on the way there and buy a big bag of frozen corn. Pour it into an empty water bottle and take it out into the water and feed the fish. They will swarm around you in a gigantic feeding frenzy and nibble on your skin. It's amazingly cool!

Did that for my son with a pack of crackers. The Mexican brand rectangle package that looks blue with metallic wrapper. Only open one end and you can just twist to open and close. Works well. The crackers fragment, spread well and turn to a mush cloud that's lasts a long time..Small ones swarm first..If you're patient, do that long enough and some big size fish eventually show up circling on the outskirts curious..like chumming...
