WSB Reminder on Limit in Effect Now..

...An old timer who won't post any more just called me to remind you fellows: The 3 fish limit south of Pt. Conception has changed to a 1 fish limit while they are spawning. It is in effect thru June 15th, opening up again just in time for some island runs to the squid grounds...Sec. 28.35 of Ocean Sport Fishing Regulations..
...Yellowtail limit is still 10.
...Tuna limits can get dicey, depending on species: 2 on Bluefin and 10 on albacore, in addition to your 20 allowable fin fish limits; however, the limit on yellowfin, big eye and other tuna is 10, BUT, will count as part of your 20 fish limit... sec. 28.38 Moral: get a positive i.d. on what you just speared...
...If you do combo trips like I do, the limit on marlin is one, edible sharks (2) except soupfin, 6 & 7 gill (1); kelp bass (5); bonito (10); lingcod (1); halibut (5).
...Fileting on board rules are too lengthy to go into here...See sec. 27.65. Those confusing sections (12 in all) are enough to send you running to F&W offices to get a copy of the rules, along with a stop at the liquor store.....The above rules are in effect thru February 29, 2020 but, are subject to change depending on resource management assessments necessary to protect the resource..
