Nice video, loved the part with the cubera all striped out. Seems like they like to hang out with snook a lot.

Really nice video. Great shooting and obviously some good spots. Can you post up a picture of your mount on the end of the gun?
Does that top and bottom flopper give you any issues on longer shots (mutton)? Or busting through larger groupers' gill plates? |

Re: Miami Spearfishing Summer 2012!
Hey thanks for all the comments ! @chapstick attached is the picture of my gun, ive had that setup now for a whiiile as u can see. Love that metal tech 48", 50" would prob b perfect but 48 still deadly accurate. As for the double flopper i've never had a problem and strongly recommend it. If u take a solid shot theres no way its coming out, if u do everything right, but still everyonce in a while u shoot high or low and the fish rips off.. U can get a good idea from the pic how i attached it. need the right nail through the go pro mount and then shave the head of the nail down. Rubber bands are for safety because i've lost 2 go pros already, one by not putting 2 rubber bands around the go pro and it popped open... and the other was a piece of one of the sides of that gopro mount broke and on the way back up saw it sinking and didnt notice till it was too late in deep water.. but the piece was still stuck in my mount.
I use a 48" metal tech and in the video there are some father shots, most are closer i guess but it def. works for farther shots on a gun with my specs.. My buddy also uses the double flop with a D. Wong 55" and he slays also so should b STR88 Through experience i will no longer take head shots on bigger fish. i've lost a couple nice fish and my buddy also, sometimes that spear just doesn't penetrate enough or will slide off his like face plate.. Gills also have ripped on me when a grouper and the spear get stuck on a rock and he's kicking haard, he can rip through it... My favorite shot is a landing shot right behind the gill plates, center of the fish and hopefully through the spine. |

Re: Miami Spearfishing Summer 2012!
That thing looks solid... I've wanted to mount to the end of the gun but i'm scared I'll lose my gopro! I've also seen gopro mounts screwed in directly under the end of the gun, with the camera hanging upside down, and then they flip the video when they edit it (@glyph, check out his march madness video).
I use the single flopper and love it on my 100 euro. Its hard to get close to mutton here in PB so you have to be laser accurate. Last edited by chapstick; 11-18-2012 at 03:33 AM. |

Re: Miami Spearfishing Summer 2012!
Manto are you guys just on the reef off Miami (couple miles) or you are at a deeper spot? It seems like the reef wouldn't be that alive due to over fishing...
