Re: Putty or other ways to customize grip shape?
5200 can def work for this application. However, keep in mind that you might need to use some tape to keep the adhesive from dripping out and away from the wires. If you can make a small cavity to keep the 5200 from draining on the bottom of however you possition the piece to dry, youll find that you can make it fully water proof.
Consider getting a piece of scrap plastic and running the same kind of wires through a similar hole for practice. Youll find that learning once on a random part will help the second go around to go much smoother.

Re: Putty or other ways to customize grip shape?
finished PU [Fix15] coated grip - pics below - per prev post, polymorph needs sanding for the PU to adhere well
thirty reef, FADs, and tuna dives in, and super happy with this grip! brings gun-arm-shoulder in line & spreads recoil across palm and wrist. the PU makes it super grippy for our gloveless tropical diving if someone out there's doing a custom grip for a long RA pls remember its a very light gun, and while the modded grip has greatly imprvd accuracy and comfort for me - when those twin bands fly, technique is still crucial in nailing the shot [+ avoiding a sprained wrist! small additional mod *find suitable material* is to make longer trigger as the Vecta2 trigger is quite short, and tho still comfortably reachable with the modded grip [hand rotated around behind handle], finger is only contacting lower half of trigger, not optimal when u want to be focusing 100% on gun alignment+bracing thanks KY Tony, ReneJr, Diving Gecko and posters for the ideas to run with - and look forward to making this durable, light, cheap, accessible speargun even better |

Re: Putty or other ways to customize grip shape?
I have always been a fan of ergonomic grips for a lot of reason. I've been trying all kinds of different materials to modify handles for a custom grip lately. I liked this product enough to start offering it for sale in my shop. Cheap, easy to use, re moldable, cools to a tough hard rubberized finish, already available in different colors. I'm going to actually include one for free with each of this season's run of custom Benthic guns that Koah is doing again. Last year we used the Hogue grips but this is so much more customizable.

Re: Putty or other ways to customize grip shape?
Interesting stuff. Will you use this on top of a standard A1 AR-15 Grip? Or a different frame option for AR?

Re: Putty or other ways to customize grip shape?
Right on top of an A2 grip. It is removable too so not a permanent addition. Most grips will probably not require the entire package. I trimmed some off of the pad myself for a grip I used it on since I have small girly hands

Re: Putty or other ways to customize grip shape?
Cool. Here's a way I found on an old shooting site which is interesting in how they measured out the distances and reframed the grip. I think I remember reading that he finished the grip by stippling it with a soldering iron.

Re: Putty or other ways to customize grip shape?
Were you able to mount this to a gun yet? I've tried a couple of these grips and for some reason when seated onto the AR base, the handle doesn't have the intended angle after removing enough material for it to have a flat top

Re: Putty or other ways to customize grip shape?
Hi Alec,
I know what you mean. There's is no True Standardization in the AR-15 Tang.. Like if you think "Mil spec" it's not referring to the dimension, rather the rules for the Annodizing. You need to flat sand on angle. Or Flat Sand and then add some fill. Put some Packing Tape over your AR- Base, then fill with something like JB Weld or whatever you choose. Then you will see the shape which it needs to be. But sure. I've spoken with Jonathan at RA asking the same question.. my guess is their mould is slightly off. So much of Spear gear is mocking it up to exactly what you want it to be, and then figuring out what you need to do to get it there..
