Stretching Information
Starting to get the urge to get back in the water (as I always do this time of year) Usually, I am tuning up my Scuba equipment, but this year I seem to be more interested in free diving.
I read a lot about daily stretching exercises to help with breath hold diving. Is there a good source of information either on the web (youtube) or a book that would explain how to do the stretching and the benefits. I have found limited information, other than a basic diaphragm stretch from sitting or standing positions. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Doug |

Re: Stretching Information
I think Sara Campbell has some videos on youtube. You want to stretch intercostals, back and chest, exhale stretches especially (but go slowly and stretch warm, especially if it is new).

Re: Stretching Information
I grew up in Cape Carteret and went to West Carteret High School before Elon College and Temple Law. Are you local or a transplant?

Re: Stretching Information
Moved here around 9 years ago - Daughter graduated from West last year and another will graduate next year.
Do you make it back down here often? Do you kill the white marlin in Ocean City? |

Re: Stretching Information
I have not been back in 5 years. May come back this summer. White Marlin? You confuse me with the someone who is good. In NJ, I shoot tog, which are the only things stupid enough to live here, and occasionally a flounder. My spearing is normally done in Islamorada and I do scuba on the reef line stuff - snappers, grouper, porgies. Next time I see a mahi school while offshore fishing I may slip in and give it a try, but I am no freediver.

Re: Stretching Information
I know a few guys that run a boat up to Ocean City MD and kill the white marlin on hook and line.
I generally spearfish on Scuba, but hope to do a lot more free diving this year. I have tried the keys the last few years in Feb, and have struck out with the weather. Seems like May is the time to go..... I have the same plan for the Mahi this spring - seems like you could do well under the big patches of weeds off shore. |
