THESE FISH ARE AS GOOD AS HOG FISH.. PERIOD....I just had my first lion fish last night.. and its not good.. not great.. BUT FANTASTIC...wow.. these are unreal eating fish.. I guess they would be as there diet is small hog fish, small grouper, and probally everything that swims near them that they can get there mouth around.. we killed "11" last week.. and the biggest was 15 inch...I will target them big time now and look for all I can find.. try them and let me know what you think!!!!!!

I am always looking to go lionfish hunting. I am entered for the derby but if you ever want a scuba buddy I like lionfish! Zookeeper, elf spear equipped.

Agreed. I compare the meat with hog. Its as clean and white and non-fishy as it gets.

Marco, you made me spill my coffee!

I have seen a few on the rigs, but its hard for me to pull the trigger on something that small. The scuba divers really go for them down here, they even have a tournament for the most lion fish. We probably dont have as many on the rigs (yet), but videos from Pensacola and Orange Beach show a lot of them. You guys keep killing them, i hear that divers are the only control for them.

Think i may go for one with the 3 prong next trip and try it. Cedric wont do it, i can barely get him to shoot Mangrove and Sheepshead.

If anyone has some spots in less than 100 feet off Clearwater/New Port Richey and wants to come along on my boat, let me know - I love lionfish, and have a number of divers who want to eradicate as many as we can find . . . . and eat them!

I'm tempted to start out with about 4-5 as pets here in Canada in a tank for their beauty (or so I'll tell the wife) and grow them big enough to have my own, sustainable ceviche farm.

Can't find those invasives here... It's too cold.
