March 6 Doran Jetty Cleanup + Potluck

Here's an excuse to get in the water and meet new folks afterwords.

RED (Redwood Empire Divers) will be removing crab rings that line the jetty at Doran Regional Park in Sonoma County on Saturday, March 6.

Diving is from 9 to 11 am so we have relatively slack water. We will have a couple small boats to ferry recovered rings back to shore. Diving along the jetty is usually 6 -12 ft depths so freediving is perfect. It is $6 per vehicle for park entry so carpooling is encouraged.

After, we'll have a potluck picnic. And some kind of award ceremony. Thanks to Bamboo Reef in Rohnert Park for supporting this activity.

This event is still on and we are all meeting at the end of Doran Beach Jetty (Bodega Bay) at 8:30 AM Sat. March 6th. You can freedive or SCUBA for this clean up. Anyone that wants to join is welcome and we will have a pot luck lunch after the dive. Diving will be from 9 - 11 AM slack tide. We will have 2 to 3 boats in the area for trash drop off as well as safety. We are out to pick up all trash, old hoop nets, old crab pots, fishing line, and other treasure. Have a good knife and something to cut lines with you as well as a lobster bag to put trash in when diving. Rain or Shine Event. Bring your fishing licence there may be crab on the bottom at slack tide as well.

Made a dry run yesterday.Weather was great, viz about 4'-5' good enough to pick up trash and maybe a crab or 2.Goast guard said if we need anything just ask.Great idea John looking forward to getting wet.
