summer project?/?
I am looking into building my first gun as a summer project with my dad. He has woodworking experience, but we both have no experience building a speargun. I see alot of blanks that look like multiple pieces of wood connected. why not a solid piece?
Basically I'm looking for any start to finish advice you guys have. If it help I am thinking about building around a 52 inch rear handle with two bands. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Again I'm starting with no clue of anything so if it seems like basic advice to you its probably real helpful to me |

use the search function and read a few build threads, you'll learn alot. But to answer your question a solid piece of wood is more likely to warp than a laminated blank.

Re: summer project?/?
Let me see... start to finish... that is a lot of info.
Two pieces of advice, 1)Use the search function: a) Prater, bretto, thereefgeek, and many others have made start to finish threads for you to look at... 2) use a laminated teak (or other wood) blank a) many people sell them if you cannot make one yourself (calihiflo, west_coast_x, wood guy, etc...) b) however, some people still use solid pieces that have been properly aged. Kitto/Klefstad to name a few Enjoy... it is fun...

Re: summer project?/?
Summertime is for killing fish with the gun you built in the wintertime
![]() There's probably 50 different gun building related threads just in the past 2 months on this forum- 10X more if you go back several years. CLICK & READ, and maybe bookmark a few of the one's you like, or find helpful. You could also try searching specific words like "wood", "build", "blank", "kevlar", "jig", "router", "table saw", "lam" or "laminate", "epoxy", etc. Lot's of good info to spend the next several weeks reading if you can get around us guys arguing about which way works better to build a gun

Re: summer project?/?
I've got some nice teak boards that I'm looking to sell either as blanks or just the raw wood. I got a very good price on it so it would be very affordable. PM me if you want some info/pictures. Good Luck
