NorCal underwater hunters and speargear shop would like to invite anyone and everyone who enjoys the beach, to give back to the area that gives us so much enjoyment, and pick up some garbage above the water and below! We will be meeting at Salt point state park Gerstle Cove at 9am on Saturday March 20th standard day use fee's apply so car pooling is encouraged. Snacks drinks and garbage bags will be provided for the event, feel free to bring something, but please don't feel obligated. Speargear shop will be donating some suit slip for any one who comes in with a 1/2 of bag of garbage also I will giving away a 25 dollar gift certificate to Bam Boo Reef to the one that picks up the most garbage. Be sure and come out for this event the guys from Norcal Underwater Hunters came out to help Redwood Empire Divers with our event at Doran Beach on Saturday the 6th and we all had a blast. I am sure Matts clean up will be just as fun.

Wow,
What a great idea.
I have to say that I am a bit torn as to the help I would like to extend Salt Point Park system.
As you know high level Park officials were responsible for the NO take zone that will go into effect April 1st closing off Fisk Mill Cove North to the South Sea Ranch.
That said, Mother Ocean needs our help and this is a great way to give back to her.
Good job Matt as I would like to see more of this along our coasts.

Hey Brian it was great hanging with you and the rest of redwood empire divers and it was amazing how many crad rings we gathered a wooping 51 yahoo, any who Tino I agree with you on all this but the end resuilt is what will count and that is a cleaner ocean, also I was mainly using salt point as a meeting/staging point and then o out to some of the oter beaches and clean then come back and bs and eat. Hope to see you all out there the more the mary'er

As most of you know, Saturday was our Coastal cleanup day. We had a great turn out, with there being around 15- 20 people.
We started out with a meet and greet, and some breakfast. After breakfast we set out to to do what we where there for, clean up trash. Everyone headed to there prespective beaches and picked up trash. When we returned to Gerstle for the weigh in, surprisingly enough everyone collected a large amount of trash, enough to fill a two yard trash bin. The person with the most trash got a $25 gift certificate donated by Bamboo Reef Dive Shop. And everyone who participated got a bottle of suit slip from Sven at Speargear shop. Congratulations goes out to Brian Herdal for having the heaviest trash. I send Props to everyone who participated, it's an excellent cause.
After the weigh in we had BBQ dogs, (thanks Jason) and other good eats, at this point everyone was itching to get in the water, BTW conditions where beautiful. We dove for about 2 1/2 hours or so. It was a very good dive as far as I'm concerned.
Our day ended at Gerstle, taking pics of the days catch, and cleaning up after ourselves. I'm glad I made it to this event, this was what it's all about, having a good time with some old friends and some new ones. I've said it before when you get a chance to attend an event like this one don't miss it definitely a good day, I look forward to hearing from some of my other Brothers from NCUH. On behalf of NCUH I want to thank Speargear Shop and Bamboo Reef Dive Shop and everyone else who participated.
