Lower Matecumbe Key tomorrow....
Hey guys,
I'm headed down to lower matecumbe key tomorrow and will just be there until wednesday night. Is there any good spots for spearing in that area? I know theres the 3 mile rule there still though. Thanks, Dane

Re: Lower Matecumbe Key tomorrow....
Dane, out by the red 18 can (buoy), there is a heavy releif ledge and some other ledges... in a very specified area. I'm not with my boat/GPS right now so I can't give you the numbers.... You should pick up some nice snappers and hogs.... and if it were legal, I ALWAYS get a red grouper here due to the areas proximity to sand/patchy grass. Not a ton of help, but all I can give.

Re: Lower Matecumbe Key tomorrow....
The deep ledges are in 35' or so. I think the general area is from 25' - 40'. ALSO, look on a chart, out by Tennessee reef lighthouse- there is an area that comes up to 28' surrounded by 45' and out to the bluewater. It'll appear as just a little pinnacle on a chart, a bit northeast of tennessee reef and light. It's right on the edge of the reef. This spot isn't a secret, but It's always sweet when I go. You might have to look around a bit, but there should be muttons, mangos, BIG yellow jacks, and ... grouper.
