Unless you have been in this area before I would go to bodega and head north on one till you get over the hill north of jenner. Then pick the first spot you are man enough to climb down and back up starting about mile marker 27.

just throw an extra 40 pounds of lead on so you stick to the bottom, you'll be fine. i actually felt bad tonight because the gf's grandma is in town and offered me gas money to get here some for easter dinner.

Re: abalone opener tomorrow...

I have taken the inlaws from the east coast to the ocean on weekends with swell like that you can dive and get abs but you realy have to pick your spot with care. I do not usualy go when conditions are that bad too much work and I kind of like my life.

Re: abalone opener tomorrow...

Hey guys I just drove back from Sea Ranch tonite (to oakland). It's blowin, humpin, and raining. Save the gas money and stay home. I would of stayed if I thought it was going to be decent. The waves are BIG right now and the water looks like crap.

Re: abalone opener tomorrow...

Thanks for the report Louie I have no plans to head over this week. Too many waves and too many crazies this week.

Re: abalone opener tomorrow...

We're heading to Bragg on Friday. If we can find a spot to get in, we'll give it a shot. If not, it's gonna be a camping and drinking trip. Not diving, but it gets me out of the snow for a bit.
Ron.

Re: abalone opener tomorrow...

Ron, check out Van Dam state park beach. It's usually the last place a person can dive when the swell is up. Good Luck.
