I always knew I loved killer whales for a reason...

I was watching this video and was happy to see the sea lions getting thinned out.

Then the video hit 1:50 and on, and I couldn't stop laughing. I wish this would happen at Children's Cove in La Jolla with the seal crowd there. The commentary is awesome. I love seeing nature at work and only wish that I could participate more. Awesome.

YouTube- Killer Whale vs. Sea Lions

Yeah, i know the hippies read these threads, but honestly, I'm just complementing the prowess of the whales and enjoy seeing nature in it's most jovial state.

Playing a little maritime badminton, and the end result? No harm, no foul. Those little bastards are obviously tougher than the hippies give them credit for. Seriously, getting in the water and swimming around them is enough to get the hippies riled up. I'd pay good money for a front row seat if I could only get some orcas to put on a show. That would be awesome.

How close to Orcas come to our coast? How feasible would it be to chum them close to LJ?

Those videos are fine and dandy, but in the spirit of the day, I would be remiss if I didn't share Seal Donking with you....

They'll come right in. They are commonly seen off the Farallon Islands and just offshore. Not as common to see as other whale species, but they get around.

I think its odd that you did too.

I'm beginning to think I must be really out of step with the younger generation, but I don't get off on seeing seals or anything else suffer. I accept the fact that orcas have to eat and its just part of nature's way, but I won't buy tickets to watch it. Seals have never done anything to me but try to make love. Sea lions do try to steal fish, although I've never lost a fish to one. I don't enjoy seeing my cat toy with a mouse either.

Did any of you guys grow up pulling wings off flies, setting cats on fire, or throwing cats out the window at 60 mph and watching what happened when they tried to land on their feet?

Heard a rumor of them being off Morro Bay a few years back. Friend of Friend was out surfing, saw fins and got the hell out of the water only to look back and see killer whales.

Only another few hundred miles or so to get them to La Jolla!

Bill, as usual, I am with you on this one... Guys make comments to me how much they want to kill sea lions; but man that seems horrible to me.

BTW I have seen Orca on albacore trips within 40-60 miles of SD. Super cool to see in the wild... except they shut off the tuna bite
