Fish N Fun Boat rentals WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!

I am so furious I need to post my disgust. I paid for a 24 foot boat a week prior to the fishing trip this Sunday. April 18th. When i get there with my 7 other friends from miami at 8 am and notice they havent even opened their business i was suprised. I called up the number, after two calls i get an answer and guess what the lady said to me: "We figured you werent gonna come since theres 70% chance of rain". I told her the least she could do is call me and ask me considering i paid for the boat earlier that week. If thats not BAD BUSINESS I dont know what is. So the best part of the story coming up: Besides being mad at me for being mad at her she tells me i cant take the boat to the ocean side only the bay side because of a small craft advisory. So I paid for a boat i cant even take to the reef we planned. stayed in shore till 2 in the afternoon when i called her and told her it had not rained one drop all day and conditions were great can we go out to the reef. At that point she says oh yeah that was lifted a few hours ago. I have never been so dissatified with a service and downtalked by a person in charge of a company. My opinion the lady dislikes hispanics way more than she likes making money because i would never rent there again. FISH N FUN boat rentals WORST SERVICE IN EXISTENCE located in Marathon.

Thats pretty rediculous...I would have been really nice to her and just went to the reef anyway. They aren't going to track your movements via satellite lol. I would have demanded a refund and most boat rental places down here open way earlier than 8am since it is still tourist season.

Next time Captain Hooks. Everyone has good things to say about that place. When she realized she messed up at the end when we got back she said 20%off next time. I wanted to tell her keep the flyer lady. Some of my friends were scared she would track us via gps. I didnt know enough to dispute. 3 guns, 8 rods, and 0 fish.

The last time we used them, they couldn't get the depth finder working on our boat. They spent half a day trying to get it to work, and finally gave up and gave us the boat. When we returned the boat, they wanted to charge us 6 single day rentals plus a 1/2 day rental instead of the week rental (several hundred dollars more). That was about 5 years ago, we've been using Captain Pip's since then and have gotten good service.

As far as the small craft advisory, you won't find any boat rental place that will let you go out with that. I'm surprised they even let you have the boat that day - although they certainly should have called you in advance.

You have high expectations of people who run boat rental places. I only know of one person who runs a boat rental business professionally, the rest go to work whenever they feel like it.

I guess i have high expectations of anyone in business period. Ever since i started working with the public i am kind of picky about service because i usually provide good service myself. no matter what it is wether u work at wendys drive thru or rent boats you know. Thanks fro the info about captain pips i will consider them next time. i did call them but they were booked. Im still dying to go fishing cause i feel unsatisfied. Thanks everyone for responding.

well if there was a small craft advisory than any place wouldnt have let it out.
but If I were you i would have watched the weather and as soon as it dropped I would be out to the reef.

sounds like you need to blame the weather guy and your self for not looking at the weather report before you left. you really dont want tobe in a 24ft boat with 15 knot winds at the reef i was out in the gulf where it was blowing 15-20 knots and raining and i was in a 34 yellow fin and it wasnt fun but we did catch 15 black fin by 11am then it started to lay down

your lucky you even got out on the water i wouldnt of let you leave with a small craft advisory (remeber those football players last year that lost there lives on a 24ft boat) and 8 ppl should be very close to that boats maximum whitch isnt good in rough seas either i wouldnt want 8 lives on my mind the seas a very unforgiveing animal

it was my birthday weekend and im changing jobs so we were gonna go fishing no matter what the weather looked like(no other weekend would have worked for us). Im just complaining about not getting a call. I had it set up with you guys at captain hooks but your 25 ft robalo broke down. I was happy with the service at cap. hooks. No other boats would hold 8 people that were available. I didnt purposely pick a 24 ft boat for 8 people I called at least 50 places no one had an available boat of 26 ft or higher. Lady told me we'll be fine on her 24fter. I know 8 people is alot but some were gonna be spearing and some in the boat. Thanks for the input though it helps. I had a dream last night i was kayaking with my speargun so now thats my next purchase.

You stated that there was small craft advisory on the questioned day.

Fish N Fun should of given you the option to: (1) fully refunded your money or (2) let you go to the bay side (very rare for SCA). In regards to discussing your options. Not sure which side had the communication problem, but the bottomline is you took option 2.

As for the bad day and for 8 spero to blank. That is operator's error. There is plenty of fish to shoot in Marathon.



Next time check the forcast first. To go offshore during a small craft advisory is asking for it.
