Naragansett Bay

Hey I just got word from a reliable source that the levels of bacteria in the bay are through the roof. Be careful diving in the bay, even though a lot of water moves through there every day, so much sewage overflowed in the storms recently that it will take a long time to move it all through. Personally, although I had planned to go in there I am avoiding it. Don't want an ear infection or rash this time of year... Hope this helps (or probably hurts).

Yea, I believe it. I picked up a rash last time. Didn't notice any shitty aftertaste though!

I plan on going out again Saturday morning, maybe off the shore a little further this time!

I ate shellfish outta jamestown (think dumplings) last week when it first reopened and im not dead yet...

it gets flushed (hate to use that word) pretty frequently, never mind the fact that its gonna naturally occur to some level

if the staties say it's OK, its prob OK

shellfish hotline (closings recording): 401-222-2900

Re: Naragansett Bay

I just tried the DEM hotline, and it didn't say much. Then checked the water quality report (http://www.dem.ri.gov/bart/latest.htm) and it seems like the water isn't that bad anymore. I'd suspect by the weekend it should be completely clear.
