Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Checked mesa and thousand steps this morning. Water looked poor. Didn't get in.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Dove the Mesa area yesterday after work and the vis was not great 5-10', workable but a little frustrating, especially underneath the kelp patties - very tough to see under ledges, etc. A little swell in the water but nothing that caused any problems.

Cabmaster managed a few rockfish and a nice spider crab and I managed 4 rockfish.

Water is still butt cold. No game fish seen.

Was out at the point at dev and it was nothing but big waves and lots of wind which created a beautiful shit stain in the ocean. Wasn't looking good anywhere in sb.

Checked from Refugio to butterfly today and it was all crap. Big swell made the water real murky. Maybe this weekend.

Went out in Carp over lunch. Vis was surprizingly decent despite rain and yesterday's swell. Got one cab.

Where are you diving in Carp? Are you going all the way out to carp reef, or are you diving somewhere around tar pits?

I live in Summerland, and I'd love to dive Carp with you sometime. I usually dive solo, and I'm always wanting to dive carp reef, but I'm a little spooked to do it by myself.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Water looked almost diveable from mesa cliffs today. Still some plumes and active longshore transport of sediment, a few days would treat her aight.

Despite there being swell, the water in Summerland looks surprisingly clear and glassy. Can't decide if I want to surf or dive.

There weren't waves in Summerland, 1-2 ft. I decided to go surfing at Jellybowl, and dispite the waves being several feet overhead there, the water was crystal clear. I could see the bottom from outside the surfline.
