Great pic Travis!!!
It was a lot of fun; and though it was "Rough seas...." at a 4-5ft. swell, it was a pond compared to the Ab Ling tourney. The swell was just enough to tank the inside vis, and that was the beauty of the way the tourney was set up. Larry had a real chance at winning, but he did not pull the 2 things that would have changed it; a big opaleye, and any decent sheephead. Funny, when you don't need them, or don't care, you see big goats all day. Big opaleye are a dime a dozen.

When you REALLY need one????? They know, and they don't cooperate.
I give major props to 2 guys; Travis and Kavi. To know the whole story behind Travis getting there in the first place, and then the fact that this was Kavi's first ever beach dive in the Laguna area.... these guys really shined.

Final results was Travis, Larry, Kavi, myself, and Joe. My WSB came at 1:35, at San Juan rocks. Big sets blowing over the rockpile,a nd I made a desperate last ditch effort to find a decent goat. No dice, but the micro-white came by, and I KNEW it was legal, but not by much. We had to use the speed of the boat to make the harbor in time to beat the 2pm deadline. (Thank God for horsepower...) The fish went a whopping 27-17/10th"...yes, 28 and 5/8".....
It was a pleasure setting it up, and I was glad to see so many guys finally get a meet right in their back yard.

Travis, you have to send me hi-res pics, and a story for my newletter editor. Congrats.

Re: Unofficial Tr-Club Meet Results

This was a great meet, I was bummed that I could not dive it but was glad to be able to get down there by the weigh in and to meet some new people especially all the guys from up north. It was a pleasure to hang out and talk with everyone there.

Re: Unofficial Tr-Club Meet Results

Great job Travis and Kavi. Way to represent guys.
Wish more people would have hung out for the BBQ.
We did not get back until well after 2pm (having fun diving knowing the food would not be ready until 3pm or so ).
It was great to meet so many people in person that I have only spoken to on line or by phone.
Thank you to all who arranged this event as it was a lot of fun.
I hope to attend more multi club meets in the future as I think getting the CA clubs together can only be lead to good things. (edit.. it does not mean that we all have to like each other, but uniting the tribes is necessary for the continuation of our lifestyle.)
Thanks again guys and I can't wait to make it down to your calm, warm, clear water again very soon.
Special thanks to our very gracious host Joe Farlo. Captain Joe put two Tritons on WSB over 45lbs this weekend, one which was his first. I will let them tell the story...

Congrats Travis!!

Wish I could have hung around for the BBQ to chat with more tritons. I was good to meet some of you in person before I had to leave!

Re: Unofficial Tr-Club Meet Results

I can't wait to see what happens at this year's Neptune's Blue Water Meet. Seems like a great year for fish and maybe we'll see alot of YT by then too. I'm praying my WSB mojo will not run out before then because I'd really like to take a fish at the island for once that is bigger than a calico.
