More Lionfish News

Seems the cool water pushed some extra Lionfish in on the Deepledge. I was going to eat these that i caught but i can't say what happened to them other than they are dead. I did get pricked by one and lived. Creates a painful sting that goes away in about 45 minutes with no side effects. Putting hot water on it kills the pain. Happy hunting.

Yea but you got a little mass on you. That same little pick could drop a feather weight diver or a little girly sissy boy like Prop Job. Actually that would most likely kill the fish first. Settle down Prop Man I am just pulling on your dive line.

I saw lots of those nasty critters on the last weekend. Those dam aquarium buffs. Pony up and eat your fish when your done looking at them. Dont set them free.

And Lionfish thought they had NO predators! LOL! (Other than Grouper, maybe). Sure is a cocky little fish.

Re: More Lionfish News

It is pretty discouraging, I've seen very few and now their abundance seems to be growing extremely rapidly. I have been seeing mostly small ones.

Don't mess with those lionfish hits, you got lucky, if you get hit in an artery or vein, there will be a BIG difference in symptoms. Trust me, I talk from personal experience. Come to Jax I will show you more lionfish than you could kill in a 50 minute dive.

Re: More Lionfish News

I was in Grand Cayman and Roatan not too long ago. Saw some REALLY big ones, but had no way to kill them. Thought about hitting them in the head with a rock or something, though. LOL. Was a little surprised when the dive guide swam off and didn't try to take them out. Maybe they were allowing them to stay for the "tourist" divers to see. It's a beautiful and majestic fish but BAD NEWS for the reefs!

Re: More Lionfish News

I cant figure out why you got stung with the caution you used while stringing them lions up! LOL you are one brave man.

When I was in Grand Cayman (ocean frontiers) we sall a few and the dive masters brought along a mask box and caught them.

Re: More Lionfish News

Randy...someone on here told me to use a piece of 4-6 " diam. pvc tubing about 3 ft. long and put a cap on one end and a lobster trap door on the other. You can stuff them in it and you won't get pricked. Them damn things are so thick and big up here it's unbelievable.
