thresher and a good day spearing
Went out yesterday with the H&L gear and spearing stuff hoping to put together a nice day on my day off. Started out by landing a thresher about 100-125lbs and after already keeping a 300lb thresher last week we decided to let this one go so I jumped in for a few pictures. After a successful release we decided to run north and as the sun was getting higher and spend the rest of the day spearing.
We hit multiple rock piles and structure and. Had spotty vis, 15ft in some places 2ft in others. Saw plenty of nice bass, tons of HUGE tog, some pushing 15lbs but most pregnant females, fluke, rays, everything. Finished the day with a nice little 32" bass, decent 22" fluke and a bunch of triggers. Great day with nice weather and flat seas. Couldnt have asked for more. |

That's an excellent post. Thanks for sharing your report. Water has been pretty warm. This is my favorite time of year to dive bc of all the cool stuff swimming around. You never know what you might see. Good job catching and releasing the thresher.

sick! nice work dude...you have to head out far to get that thresher? think u can hook it up w some of the locations of your rock piles??? send me a message if u dont want to post it on here. i found a decent spot up north off shrewsbery rocks but its takes too much time/gas to get their on my boat. tryin to find a nice local spot around belmar area to spear.
