Palm Beach Freedivers at 2010 Nationals
Well the trip started off with Dylan Page (myself), Yuri Bylina, and Juan Reyna on a 23 hour 1200 mile trip from palm Beach to Heber Springs, Arkansas towing my 20' aquasport to compete in the 2010 U.S. Nationals Tournament. We arrived to what seemed to be the most beautifull lake we had ever seen in this small little old town. We finally put the boat in the water a few hours later and got in to immediately start scouting. We were pleasantly welcomed with 3ft visibility, 90 degree water on the surface, and 60 degree water at 30ft
Throughout the week our team overcame quite a few very challenging obstacles ... Couldnt find a fish for 3 days...Starter went out on the boat two days before the tournament..... day after the starter went out the relay to trim the motor up went out.... and countless other things... It seemed as if it couldn't get any worse...it did The day before the tournament we got in a really good day of scouting, the boat didn't give us any problems, saw tons of drums, buffalo's, carps, and some really nice bass. We were done scouting by 3pm ( deadline for tournament) and headed back to the hotel to relax with a little confidence knowing that we saw some quality fish. The morning of the tournament we were psyched that it was finally here and we were more than ready to go out there and shoot some fish. All the teams met at the beach, we were assigned judges, and headed out to the bouy line where we would all race to our spots. The clocked turned 8:30 and we were off. At our first spot Yuri slammed a nice 20+ lb. buffalo and I got a nice Large Mouth Bass. After that it was just like scouting the day before. The fish were exactly where we had been scouting them and had the box overflowing with buffalo's before 10:30. By 12 we couldn't even close the fish box. We arrived to the beach just happy that we shot a few fish and had something to weigh in. It wasn't up until the weigh station that we realized how considerably well we did. All in all the team overall Placed 4th, Yury scored 2nd Individual, and I scored 13th Individual. It was a great experience that I would not think twice about doing all over again. I'm looking forward to representing the Palm Beach Freedivers at the Next 2011 Nationals in the Florida Keys. See you there!!!! Dylan Page Palm Beach Freedivers Team |

Mike Mcguire took a few pics of us holding up our fish on stringers. When we first arrived to the beach. Will post when I get them.

Unbelievable job guys, I hope to be able to compliment you at our next club meeting, and I wonder if Yuri will allow, in the future, common spearos to stay in his same boat...

Great job fellas!! I'm sure the conditions were less than favorable!! I guess it was a combination of finding a few good spots and some great spearing!
