Google tackle shops in your area. Many of them carry it or can refer you.

It may be a long shot, but if you have a local butcher shop sometimes they will let you have the leftover mess for free.

Also I second the local tackle shop suggestion^^^

Re: where can i buy chum?

You should either go to the mouth of Newport harbor and sabiki some greenies or go to 99 ranch market. They have all kinds of fish and squid for pretty cheap. I'd suggest something oily from what I hear about makos.

Re: where can i buy chum?

i second the sabiki. sabikiing macks is fun, and the big greenbacks actually make incredibly good sashimi! bleed, gut, fillet, skin and consume with a little ponzu.

Re: where can i buy chum?

I don't think you can use butcher shop stuff. I have heard using mammal chum is illegal. Check into that before you try it.

Re: where can i buy chum?

Helps if you state what city you live in..lots of options, including Charkbait in Huntington Beach, Big Fish tackle shop in Seal Beach, asian markets, fish markets in San Pedro, etc; one of my tricks is to mix beach sand and sawdust in the chum bucket with the fish mix and freeze it....reason; the sawdust carries the odor across the surface, sinking slowly as it gets waterlogged; the sand drops the odor quickly down to the thermocline area where the bigger sharks cruise...lets you cover a wider vertical column of water faster...
