RA saftey removal

I remember sevral people in the past talking about removing the saftey from an RA......can anybody post a description of how its done without damaging the gun? Any tips on installing the stainless line release would be helpful as well. Just got a 120 recently, and am pleased with it so far.

I have only had it out once so far. didnt see anything real big, so I speared a Calico who went a couple pounds. Calicos arnt my usual target species, but my wife does like them, so I get to go more often if I put one in the sack every now and then. Drilled him right through the gill plate. Did like shooting the gun. kind of reminded me of shooting a glock

It is pretty easy:
1. Take the shaft out of the trigger mech
2. Using a thin screwdriver and hammer tap the black peg out (this one is towards the back of the handle)
3. The whole top of the handle should come off (including the safety).
4. Remove the trigger by tapping out the peg that holds it in place
5. The safety should come out easy
6. Replace the trigger back in making sure it is positioned properly with its spring
7. Put the trigger mech back onto the handle and you are done.

I don't have to worry about sand getting inside (diving off a boat). I think some type of marine epoxy should do the trick. Try Marinetex but make sure you remove the trigger mech first. Marinetex can get sanded down after application.

Hiya

Much simpler way is simply to LOCK the safety.

This is done by firstly putting the gun on "FIRE" mode. Now drill a small hole through the safety button, drilling as close to the mech. housing as you can. Put a piece of shooting line through the hole, and burn both ends.

Your gun is now on permanent FIRE position and if one day you decide to sell your gun, simply remove the piece of mono shooting line, and your gun has a safety again. Also, now you have no worries of sand getting into your mech.

It is very simple and you do not need to remove the cassette from the handle.

Thanks for the help guys. I think i will take the saftey wire option. An eye bolt to create a breakaway was what I was originally planning on sticking in the hole, but I got my hawwian breakaway tuned up so that it quit coming loose. FFD wil PM ya
