SOOooooooo.... any predictions????
Well, since y'all were falling over your DICKS ranting about the great weather recommendations of a 'full blown El Nino' and you were counting your dorado chicks before they hatched....... anyone care to step up to the plate and talk some weather shit????
![]() Remember, this year is a "La Nina"- a weather pattern that DID NOT even exist until about 10 years ago, when weathermen & women realized that saying "Warm and 77 again" does not pay for fake tits and face lifts (Or endless tanning booth sessions in the case of Dallas 'Leatherface' Rains). Like so many other weather patterns, they are relying on a computer model with no grasp of the overall scope of history, and long term weather. And La Nina is what they are selling you. "The dry, cooler season that is the opposite of El Nino..." Anyways, sierra snowpack is about a tepid 200% of normal for this time of year. We are matching last years' El NoShow rain step for step. (Let's not forget how every weather persona non grata has been howling about record rainfalls like we have not seen before......(Sure gang, I can't remember back 365 days.... I am just some dumb fisherman......) So, what's it gonna be?? Is this a La Nina, where it is dryer and colder than an El NoShow, and in 2010, we actually had a blue rockfish taken at Pt. Dume in that ultra warm El Nino water...... Let's hear your thoughts on the weather, for the season we are in right now, and for the year ahead. Don't bother to say anything you read from NOAA. They are so lost and incompetent these days, it's a shame and a half. Gut feelings, from the guys who might know something. ( I'd rather see your own opinion, rather than you skimming it from some other source as so many do, just so we can say "You were not right" rather than "You're a jackass for quoting a moron with a meteorology degree from a Cracker Jack Box." Let's hear it, and I'll toss in my 2 cents after we see what you got! ![]() There are no January WSB, squid or no squid.... so don't bother.

Re: SOOooooooo.... any predictions????
chris oak posted this thing about ARk Storm
atmospheric rivers the pineapple express here in so cal http://urbanearth.gps.caltech.edu/winter-storm/ I think that if the pattern holds with winds from due west that predominate for more than just the usual pattern of june gloom we will have a repeat of june gloom lasting well into September again leading to overall colder waters basically a continuation of last year but likely even a bit worse (or better for WSB, blue whale sightings and humbolt squid)

Re: SOOooooooo.... any predictions????
Sorry to bring up NOAA... but they do keep interesting RECORDS, even if their forecasts aren't worth a damn...
![]() The above shows that we have not reached such an extreme "blue" level of "standardized departure" since 1976 or whenever. ![]() And this one is pretty interesting too: http://www.cpc.noaa.gov/products/ana...nsoyears.shtml |

All I do is kill fish all that other stuff is just to keep me busy when the weather/viz sucks and there are no fish biting. Give me clear water or a jig stick and a tady 45 any day before you give me waves and rain. Last edited by Nate Baker; 01-06-2011 at 08:42 AM. |

To me if it doesn't involve killing fish, it just isn't something I like to do that much.

Re: SOOooooooo.... any predictions????
I think that the news is complaining about the rain now, but in summer will be complaining that it is a 30 year drought!
My prediction is this year has and will be a normal(average) year. Dec-Feb; periods of rain and sun. 45*-60* and Average total rainfal. March-June; WSB. Algae blooms, Windy marine layer. cold and miserable 50*-60* as usual. June-Sep; Warm with YT, sparadic WSB and Dorado in certain areas.
