Thumbs up OC Sheriff Boat Auction, April 29th

There is a boat auction being held on Friday April 29th at 9am. Viewing begins at 8am. Must have cash in hand and be prepared to blow it.

Great place for a new spearo to pick up a kayak or inflatable to hit the kelp beds in. Last year there were tons of kayaks and quite a few inflatables that went up. I paid $200 for my kayak (barely used and $900 retail) and got a free $100 paddle with it. Last year you could have gotten a 35' sailboat for $20 with minimal sea lion damage to the safety rails.

Stuff goes quick, so don't get caught up in the bidding excitement and know what to look for..

Orange County Sheriff, Harbor Department
1901 Bayside Drive, Corona Del Mar 92625

Just don't bid against me...

Re: OC Sheriff Boat Auction, April 29th

I don't think so, but some of the boats had engines on them. If you could pick a combo up cheap enough you'd be set.

There was a sailboat that was up for auction last year that had a brand new 9hp 4 stroke Honda on it for it's dinghy and no body bought it, even for $20. Do some research ahead of time and look into boat salvage, sometimes the lead in the keel can be worth money if extracted and some companies might take it off your hands for free. Not a bad deal if you can put in the leg work and come out ahead.

Yup, and quite a few inflatables as well. Should be a good selection there. I'll be going for another kayak. Great way to make some money. Buy a kayak, use it for the spring wsb, and sell it for a decent profit.

save a few dollars by not helping to bid the stuff up...wait until it is just about the end to bid..otherwise, you are helping feed the frenzy and bidding against yourself..probably watched Mr. Donnell buying his kayak..I was there..they haven't had one for quite a while, so, should have a pretty good collection of stuff this time..usually best to buy early, as the less remaining items, the more the price goes up...don't forget to go to the bank the day before..it is CASH only.....and, don't outbid the little kid and his mom trying buy an inflatable water toy.....
