Treasure Coast Skin Diver's - Hunt & Feed - July 16th

In case of inclement weather the event will be postponed to the next Saturday a pavilion will be available - Stay posted!

This event will focus on promoting the sport of Freedive Spearfishing the Treasure Coast and South Florida regions.

Event Location: FORT PIERCE - PEPPER PARK - EAST PAVILLIAN - (North Parking Lot)

Time & Date: SATURDAY JULY 16th, 2011 from 8:30am to 3:00pm

A small cash donation is encouraged, but is not required to attend, participate and have fun. ALL donated funds will be used to cover cost of pavilion and food items. Raffle tickets will be given to those who donate monetarily at event. I will be bringing about 50 pounds of "Boerewors" South African Sausages, some bread and condiments. Any and all remaining funds after if cost of meat and venue are covered will be given away at event in this order: Half by drawing to those who've donated monetarily - And the other half will be donated to the FRA! Any leftover or uncooked meat will also be given away by drawing in the uncommon event it has been paid, for but not consumed.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEVERAGES AND SIDES - GRILLED BOERWORS SAUSAGE SANDWICH'S WILL BE PROVIDED TO ALL MONETARY DONORS- Unless with 50 pounds we run out!

Must be present and have "donated monetarily" to participate in drawings. For the "Big Fish" contest - You DO NOT have to "donate" to participate and have fun, and the winner gets FIRST pick from prize table! "Big Fish" will be determined by length - So if you shoot a sheepshead and your buddy shoots a mackerel - Your buddy probably wins! (NO BARRACUDA'S!) This is a no frills contest for fun and to promote the sport - So we'll keep it simple. There will also be a prize for the longest lionfish!

Contest fish will be filleted and donated to the local homeless shelter and or food pantry at shooter's discretion.

Companies and manufacturer's are currently being contacted and asked to donate to the "Prize Table" - So there should be some prizes from several vendors and local dive shops - I am starting off the donations by donating a set of Sporasub freedive fins and a JBL polespear tip.

One thing is for sure, a fun time will be had by all. It's a chance to meet new spearo's, learn of new places, gear, and techniques. You just might win some cool prizes too! It's a "get together" for ALL spearo's and their families to relax and have a good time. Young and old. Experienced and newbie's alike, a family friendly event! There is a play park, bathrooms, and a few grills at the venue.

Please post here or on FB if you are attending - If you plan to bring guest, and what, if any food you'll be bringing to share - You can RSVP to the "Event" on Facebook by clicking here! https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=149662431773117

Prize Table - Updated as prizes come in

JBL SS Three Prong Barbed Paralyzer Tip -

Set of Sporasub/H.Dessault fins Size 44-46

A Foldspear -

Several Fish Stringers -

FII - $50 dollar certificate towards level 1 or 2 class -

Vertigo Tackle's ALL METAL Lobster Snare -

A Lion Tamer - Lionfish exterminator -

- THIS IS A SHORE ENTRY AND BREATH-HOLD SPEARFISHING EVENT FOR THE "Big Fish" and "Big Lion Fish" CONTEST - SCUBA, KAYAK SPEARO'S AND ALL OTHERS ARE STILL WELCOME TO ATTEND, PARTICIPATE, AND HAVE A GOOD TIME - Lets get this party started!

If I may ask, where do you get 50lbs of boerewors?

We have an old Afrikaans recipe - We get authentic spices and blend them ourselves. My wife is Afrikaans and is from South Africa. We buy the meat at the butcher and have him make it for us! We do smaller amounts ourselves and Biltong too!

I would suggest doing biggest fish by weight. And taking cuda off the eligible list. It's a no brainer for me to go out there and whack a 20lb cuda, but bringing in 15 lbs of grouper or cobia is something to brag about.

It was implied that the catch list is at least constrained to legal species, so I better not see any snook or eel on the beach

Barracuda HAS been taken off and IS NOT an eligible fish.

We will still be doing LONGEST legal fish (No Barracuda) Anyone can win, even if they only take just one fish - Keeping it nice and simple.

I'll be keeping my eye's peeled for big jacks and mackeralS!

Paying for pavillion tomorrow -

Sounds like fun. I'll try to bring some friends with me and hopefully I can stock up on some fish to donate!

I'll definitely be there. And I'm going to throw 5 stringers together similar to this and donate them to the prizes. Nothing special, but they get the job done.

Yeah I'm good. Just going to be bruised. 45 minutes with a shark attached to my arm is bound to do that. Unfortunately the "I'm with stupid" thing doesn't point to me so whoever posts next can go ahead and do it for me.
