Talking Aidan shoots an 8 lb Calico!

Ok
so a Richie Baltaism goes like this

"Any joker can shoot a big WSB these days, just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
Bring me a stringer of 5 lb calico bass if you wanna get my respect as a hunter"

Richie repeated this recently over dinner after the carp shootout.
So this last weekend while camping at little harbor, Aidan refused to rig his breakaway sliptip shaft onto his wong gun because he was gonna be a dedicated calico bass hunter for the weekend.

On saturday while i was spooking halibut up on the beach Aidan dissapered for almostr 2 hours and scouted out a good spot coming back with 2 nice 2-3 lb bass.

That afternoon we went to the Neptunes weight-in and Capt. Ron gave us the dope on a spot where someone on his boat shot a 9lber. When we got back to the camp around 6pm, Aidian was totally into catching the evening session on the spot Ron spoke of. So we loaded up the inflatable and made our way out to it. While I spent the next 2 hours being tourtured by a croaking WSB on the outside edge, Aidan worked the inside boilers. He shot a nice 3 lber early on then started to pass on nice fish looking for the one fish. So when he found it, he told me that he got good Karma for letting all the others swim off.

He told me that he saw the big one about 10-15 feet down and swam around a kelp stalk dove down and came up along side placing a nice shot through the gillplate. He ended up stringing the fish then pulling it out of a hole. I had no idea what he was up to till I got back in the boat and called to him at which time he asked me to pick him up.

Then true to Balta's style, he was real quite as he swam out to the boat and just threw the pig on the deck with a big smile on his face

I had him filet out all his own fish the next day and i can tell you he learned how to do that pretty quick as well (unlike some other fathomiers I know)

BTW don't ask me what my PB calico is cause Im not tellin you

Great Catch! He did better than I did on Saturday. It is very impressive how he was able to get so close to such a skittish fish.

You are raising one hell of a spearo Doctor. Kudos!

Holy grumpy calico Batman! Great fish! Sorry I didn't get to introduce myself Saturday Joe, I'm sure we'll cross paths in the future.
