Channel Islands go off...

65 wsb Thursday and that is just the charter sportboat count....probably another 50 to 100 taken by private boaters....bluefin at 60 miles below Pt. Loma...may still be a hot season for gamefish...

Re: Channel Islands go off...

few weeks late, they caught fish there already. Mostly in 90 ft of water, dove the inside like hell to find some sleepers... nobody home. Maybe this moon cycle they will be up in the kelp.

Last week the counts were up higher, but that did not translate to fish for spearos. That is the point i am making. The fish all seemed to be deep, and the water was damn hot.

Re: Channel Islands go off...

they are on pods of squid....divers with huavos can get fish over the pods in deep water by diving down 30 or 40' and hanging until fish come thru...only problem is the blues, threshers, makos and other assorted riff-raff also know the game....can get a little spooky if the water has limited vis...but, it sure can produce some big fish..
