Great, after reading the story I am hoping this gets the full Willie Horton treatment in 2012.

In 2005, President George W. Bush agreed with an International Court of Justice ruling that Leal and 50 other Mexican-born inmates nationwide should be entitled to new hearings in U.S. courts to determine if their consular rights were violated. The Supreme Court later overruled Bush.
And it was one of the times that Bush was right.

Are we a nation of laws, or of emotions?

Do our agreements to treaties mean anything?

If you are so damn happy about this, then I hope you get in trouble in Mexico, and they laugh in your face when you ask to see our Consul.

What goes around comes around, but I hope it comes to you instead of me.

Bill i was shocked that a stay of execution requested by the PRESIDENT was Not grated. Im afraid it will harm U.S./Mexico relations. and as you said, americans that may have trouble in Mexico.

Re: 0 pleas for killers life

as a non-conservative, non-liberal, i agree with the supreme court. first of all, the man came here as a toddler, as in unable to decide where he lives. ok. so he is a mexican national. and neither him, nor his litigators were smart enough to know that a foreign national can get legal help from their country. people die from being stupid all the time. add another tally to that row. also, the man admitted guilt in his dying words. there are bigger things at stake than our relations with a nation that holds neither the resources, nor the balls to so much as hold their nose up to our country. that man will never rape and bludgeon to death another poor innocent girl, ever again. however you look at it, the man was guilty. he committed a crime that i hope to all that is sacred in this world, your daughters will never have to be faced with. if that doesnt deserve the fate this man received, then i dont know what does. i know i would kill such a man with my bare hands, given half a chance.

ps- ill say right now, that i do not debate; i merely opine.

Bigger things at stake? Like what? I really hope that mexican /usa relationships would come to an end. The Usa would get the worst part. Whoīs gonna buy your shit? The European Union? I donīt think so. The biggest problem of Mexico is being so close to a drug addict, weapon smuggling country like the States. You americans are bitching all the time about illegal immigrants that send money to México, what you donīt see is that money and a shit load more returns to your Country by exports. The 80 % of mexican imports ( the eleventh World economy by GDP) come from Usa commercial relationships. Sooner or later, Mexico will open the foreign market to Latin America, with Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and all the other countries and start closing the border to that racist, drug addict and broke Country that has a overated picture of itself. And donīt be so naive, mexicans are really brave, and can hold a candle against anyone in terms of "balls". The Brave Americans just invade poor defenseless countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. What about North Korea? You just donīt have the balls to hold your nose up to that Country.

the bigger things i am referring to are the sixteen year old girls getting their heads bashed in by chunks of asphalt. ive pretty much got balls enough to hold my nose up to anyone i feel the whim to do so. i dont have a problem with mexico, but srsly, im like alfred e neuman. why would i worry about what mexico has to say about an admitted rapist and killer of a minor? are they really gonna stand behind this as a case for diplomacy against the us? who is being naive here?

ps- that is as close as i am going to get to debating my opinion. have a wonderful evening.

Re: 0 pleas for killers life

This piece of shit got off easy. He wasn't some poor transient Mexican that came here for "a better life". As Patrick stated; he has been here since he was an infant. Regardless where he was born; he got what he deserved (sort of). The movie "Law abiding citizen" comes to mine when I think of a proper way of dispatching him.

Kudo's to Texas!

"There was a 30- to 40-pound asphalt rock roughly twice the size of the victim's skull lying partially on the victim's left arm," court documents read. "Blood was underneath this rock. A smaller rock with blood on it was located near the victim's right thigh. There was a gaping hole from the corner of the victim's right eye extending to the center of her head from which blood was oozing. The victim's head was splattered with blood."
A "bloody and broken" stick roughly 15 inches long with a screw at the end of it was also protruding from the girl's vagina, according to the documents.

Re: 0 pleas for killers life

Sounds like this gent was the worst kind of scumbag and was most likely guilty, but I hope that other countries respect this treaty if I were to ever find myself in trouble while traveling.
