Re: New Video thread
this is an awesome video. I'm just starting the sport and recently got my speargun (mako predator pro) and i really need someone to dive with. you clearly seem to know what you are doing haha. but lets say for instance since my speargun doesn't have a real like yours, and the fish pulls past the 20 or so feet of like that i have, what do i do? should i swim with the gun in the direction of the fish? or just hold on and try not to budge?

Re: New Video thread
I think you might be loading that spear/shock line incorrectly, that is why the line does not go out and wraps around the bands.

Re: New Video thread

Re: New Video thread
Spearfishing for Striped Bass with a Pole Spear - YouTubeHere's a quick pole spear video I took earlier this week. I'm diving in the central Long Island Sound. The vis was great until we had that big NE blow last week, since its been like coffee. We've been seeing a great run of 32"-36" bass, nothing too big though. Anyways the gun has been close to a sure thing so this time I just took out the pole spear. The Ray Odor hits hard, this was the first time I've tried it on a bass. With a slip tip it could probably handle a 20-25# fish. Center mass seems to be a good shot with the screw on fixed tip, when you hit them in the head they like to spin... That fish got a good knifing, Jason Williams style. I hope to see some of you guys at the Hellenic on Saturday

Badass! I've always wanted to nail a bass with a pole spear. Next time we have shit viz, I'll take it out.
