Dyneema vs. Spectra???

My experience has been scuba diving rigs offshore Texas equiped with braided cable attached directly to gun. I am adding a reel to the setup for some extra safety as well as to do some freediving.

What are the pros/cons of Dyneema and Spectra. I know that both are readily used and proven performers for spearfishing. I have seen mention of some pecularityies associated with each line, such as Dyneema won't hold using a line crimps and must use a constrictor knot, Dyneema having superior abrassion resistance, and Spectra makes a better reel line because it's more flexible and has a little strech, etc.... What is truth and fiction.

Please shed light on the advantages and differences of these two lines.

Thanks

I thought the only difference was where they were made. Same product

I know they are similar, but was under impression that they are slightly different.

Re: Dyneema vs. Spectra???

There were some great threads a few years back. I believe they were in related to how they do as shooting line specifically. I dont know all the differences, but I have tried some different types. The white stuff rob allen and mako sells is good. Q-line is ok, but the best/cheapest i've found is zing it. Stretches a little, but super tough! http://wesspur.com/throw-line/zing-it-throw-line.html

Zing-It Throw Line 1000ft is what you need. Yellow.

Buy from a cheaper site though

Dyneema and Spectra are identical. The only difference is who makes them. The differences between the lines that you described is how they are woven for each product.
