Beautiful footage. I did not know that it was legal to spear steelhead trout up there.

Everything goes in saltwater, with a few restrictions. I think those were searun silvers in the spearing part of the vid. ?

Re: Southeast Alaska diving video

SPearing salmon is legal in saltwater with your body fully submerged in saltwater. Sometimes 'saltwater' is kind of a grey area at river mouths with fresh water input. In those areas its typically delineated where its legal to fish/spear. Those were not steelhead trout rather a mixture of coho and mostly sockeye salmon in the ocean near a spawning tributary. Not sure if you could spear a steely but I would venture to say the same rules would apply as do to salmon. Steelhead are a bit more protected up there so maybe not.

Awesome vid. I dream of spearing the big Chinooks I can't catch on my flyrod.
