Awesome to hear your gonna make it, and looking forward to trying your ab recipe. Yes there is a group camp site, well come to come camp in it. the entrance fee does not cover camping that is $20 a night per a car/truck. As for non competitors they can pay there camping fee and join in the group site or they can get there own site with in the ocean cove camp ground which ever they chose. As for a shirt design not yet but it is being worked on.

Hey all I would also like to announce we are using another method this year to determine the biggest ab. It is not only going to be length but weight to. All abalone will be measured and weighed and those 2 numbers will be added together for a total score on the ab and the person with the highest total score has the biggest ab. Also read above post about shirt dead line hope to see you all there.

Yep. any one can enter, also keep in mind we have new measuring system in place. This year it will be length and weight combined for a total score. For and example you bring in a 9.5 inch ab and the abalone weighs 5.6 oz your score would be 15.1. The top 3 scores will place. This event is open to free divers only.
Current California Department of Fishing Game laws apply.
Donation Fee's are $40 if preregistered and $40 day of event. To receive a free shirt you must preregister. The pre registration for the free shirt will end on 7-1-12 after that you will have to purchase your shirt at the event very limited supply if any.All Divers are required to fill out and turn in a waiver form and show current CA. fishing license and current 2012 abalone tags at sign in.
All Divers are required to register with at least one dive buddy
The check in and measuring for the abalone for the event will be held at the Ocean Cove Campground 23125 Coast Highway One.
Diving can be done anywhere along the California Coast, All divers must return to Check out area by 2:00 pm, No exceptions.
Free diving Divisions Awards (plaques) will consist of:
1st, 2ND, 3rd for biggest Ab
Top Female biggest Ab
Top junior biggest Ab
Most Beach garbage picked up
Ab cook off.
Etiquette and safety:
The Ocean cove Big Ab comp promotes safe buddy diving and friendly competition.
All divers should be in contact with their dive buddy/ies while in the water.
Eligibility:
Signed Waiver form.
2012 California Ocean Fishing License and Abalone punch card and tags.
Disqualifications:
Any California Department of Fishing Game Violations.
Arriving at the check in area after 2:00 pm sharp.

What a day I have to start by thanking every one who attended with out you all coming out and competing it would not have been what it was so thank you. It is so rewarding to see our norcal dive community came together and have a great time.
