"Red Zone", my MLPA documentary

OK guys, my feature length documentary film about the MLPA in Southern California, entitled; "Red Zone" is officially in pre production.

Here's some back story; I was approached late last year by a group of producers with a production deal at a major network, interested in a reality TV series about my adventures in Hollywood, juxstaposed against my adventures freediving and fishing the California coast. While in the process of developing the show and procuring funds and equipment, it came up in conversation, that some areas I'd like to dive in the shows, were going to be closed after the first of the year. This led to a conversation about the MLPA, and to make a long story short, they felt that a feature length documentary about the MLPA, with my story and point of view as the catalyst, would be a much more worthwhile endeavor at this juncture.

So basically, here we are. I've thought about doing this for some time now, and the fact that I've got a backer now, pretty much solidifies my decision to move forward with this film. There's a lot going on in my head right now, but but here's a few things that I'm going to need as soon as possible. If anyone here can either provide these things, or point me in the right direction, without sending me on a wild goose chase, I would definitely appreciate it;

1) Contact information for the key people at the PSO and Watermen's Alliance.

2) Old footage (format doesn't matter) or photographs of SD Bottom Scratchers type stuff. Anything diving or fishing related to the Laguna or So Cal area, that is from the 70's or before.

3) Camera men and equipment locally-- Anyone with a GOOD HD camera and sound system, with a flexible schedule, should contact me ASAP.

4) Footage from the MLPA meetings. I have some, but it's not high res enough. If there's anyone who shot footage of the meetings, I'd like to get it from you.

5) Interviewees-- Aside from Joe N, Dave P, Keaka, Bill Mac, etc... If you are articulate, educated about the MLPA process and passionate, with something poignant to say, please contact me and let me know when you're available. The schedule of when and where interviews will be conducted, will follow shortly. I am asking respectfully and kindly to not respond to this if you plan on sitting in front of the camera to say "The MLPA is bullshit..."

That's all for now, and I'm asking the mods that this become a sticky on the main page please, as this will be an ongoing process... Dale P, JB, Dave and Mike P, Keaka, Kelsey, Miguel... You will all be getting a phone call regarding this on Monday to discuss in more detail.

More soon,

SC

Re: "Red Zone", my MLPA documentary

I think this is what we've been needing for years! Thanks for putting this together C monster. I'd love to participate but I'm away at school and won't be back for about a year and a half; if there's anything you think I can help with, please let me know.

Maybe so, but I honestly don't think I have anything special to say. Every time I get into an MLPA discussion on the board, I seem to get my dick slapped. I didn't go far enough to enough meetings, and I'm not going to suffer enough because my usual dive spots won't be affected as much as the dive spots of others.

My father told me that I should never participate in circular firing squads. I better stand aside and let you guys who will live with the results fight your own battle.

This is AWESOME. I'd love to be interviewed, but there are easily hundreds of people on here that are more educated, more experienced, and better know.
GOOD LUCK!
