Thumbs up My New Euro Beauty!

Its been a busy winter! In between all the awesome diving we've been having here Randy (Wrasselin) and I somehow found time to work on a new gun! I tried to keep things simple this time and go with a sleak euro. We ran into a few hitches in the beginning with some warping issues but the finished product came out far better then I had ever imagined! Randy's expertise really showed on this one as he really put a lot of thought into getting everything just right! I am so stoked with how well it turned out and I cannot wait to get it out and get some blood on it! Heres some specs:

130cm open track Euro
Padauk Wood
Neptonics reef mech
65in 5/16th shaft (will switch to 9/32 for reef fish)
Instamorph handle with randys custom frame.
Riffe Euro butt pad
Riffe muzzle line wrap tab
Spearmaster reel (may switch to riffe horizontal reel)
2x 28in bands with the option for a 3rd band for a bluewater setup.

Well done! Question.... can you explain how you molded the handle? I have used shaplock before, but your handle looks great!

Nice one. A true Euro. I like the way the handle is mounted on a bevel. I like the idea that this gun can use both a 9/32" or a 5/16". I see there's room there for a third band too which could be used with that 5/16".

Nice Work Randy.

Re: My New Euro Beauty!

nice gun. You think that has enough mass for 8mm shaft? I bet it will recoil a lot. With the 9/32 shaft, it should be awesome.

Instamorph should be the same thing as shapelock...Just heated up some water and shaped the stuff around the handle frame and then shaped it to my comfort. I tried to make a fairly beefy handle so I could swing the gun with more ease.

You're right! When we started getting into the gun we realized that a 9/32 would be a lot more practical for this gun. Surprisingly, the gun has quite a bit of mass so the 5/16th shaft would probably work fine when needed but I would much rather shoot a thinner shaft anyway.

Re: My New Euro Beauty!

Wow looks like a Riffe Euro but nicer! The only thing I don't like is the handle. Are you sure the insta morph stuff is strong enough to not break off? Especially in white, UV will penetrate more easily ... so keep an eye for fracture points especially where the screws go in. I have seen shapelock used on hand grips for shape, but not on the frame where there might be a lot of stresses involved. In the meantime take a look at some of the handles Ulusub had for sale, they are made of fiber reinforced plastic that can handle stress, and are black that is much more resistant to UV degradation. Also black would fit the nice lines of the gun much better!

The instamorph actually wraps around a base handle made of a solid piece of plastic. I think it's one of the the great features on the gun. It's very comfortable and makes for handling the gun with ease.
