Ever wanted to use Google Earth to see where a particular Marine Protected Area is located? How about zoom into get an idea where the boundaries are? Or even look up the appropriate regulations for any of the confusing designations by clicking on an area?
Well now you can...
I just updated the Google Earth Southern MPA's file I've been working on and it's ready for release.
In the near future I should have all of CA's MPA's in one file.
These maps have been really helpful to me as I seem to dive all over CA and cant remember all the little details to the regs.
Now not only can I use these maps on a PC but I can load them into a My Maps file (Google) and see them on my iPhone or iPad.

If you would like a copy I am asking a donation of $5 or more to the Waterman's Alliance. I should have a paypal link for donations up soon but for now you can donate to my event account (santinober@gmail.com via Paypal) and I will pay out the WA on a monthly basis.
Once your donation is received I will send you out a copy of the file.

R = Marine Reserve Waypoint. Red
C = Marine Conservation Area Waypoint. Blue
SC = Special Closure Area Waypoint. Purple

Great idea, and thanks for the effort! Have you done the northern channel islands yet? (I assume its a KML file?)

Guys the file includes every Southern MPA.
That means from TJ to Pt Conception and all the islands in between.
You just click on the area and the appropriate regs pop up along with a link to the DFG's web site.
The pic above is just Catalina...

Hey Tino, can you convert them to an IMG file format so I can load them on to my Garmin Oregon 450?

That way I can use them with my waterproof case when I'm tank-scouting .....
