Re: Malibu this weekend

All hope is not lost, we hit east malibu today and while, no, it wasn't epic it wasn't horrible either. I hadn't been in for over 3 weeks and it was definitely worth it. Viz from 8-12 ft depending on the spot and cold. as. hell. Seriously, after two hours my buddy and I couldn't even unband our guns after the dive our hands were so numb for 20-minutes. Make a point to hit it at high tide or just off and you should be able to find something worth while.

Re: Malibu this weekend

Did you guys find any fish out there, sounds like we dove similar spots. I was focused on the inside looking for flatties, viz might have been a little better on the outside, but I didn't kick that direction...

Re: Malibu this weekend

We hunted for two solid hours both inside and outside the kelp with absolutely nothing to show for it other than numb fingers/toes. The Viz was pretty reasonable inside and out, with a slight edge to the outside.

Re: Malibu this weekend

Had a beautiful dive in E. Malibu today at the high tide. Had the spot to myself for the 1st hour. Great vis on the inside and out in the kelp bed. Lots of life including schools of baitfish, lobsters, perch, small calicos, harbor seals.... I looked in the sand until I was cross-eyed but didn't see a single flattie. Got out of the water around 11:30 to take a rest and dial in some gear. A group of about 5 or 6 divers worked their way up to where I was. Anyone from this board? There were at least 3 or 4 with dive boards. Most guys seemed to be using pole spears. Anyway, after all that time alone I was happy to have some company in the vicinity and went back out.
