Heritage Fisherman 14

Does anyone have experience with diving from a Heritage Fisherman 14? I know someone who has one for sale and asking a smoking good price for it. I'll probably buy it even if it isn't the best yak for diving but just looking for some input if you guys have any. Any info would be great!

Re: Heritage Fisherman 14

Are you related to Dan Duval in SLO, CA? Ah anyway I looked at pics of the Fisherman and it looks like it has a low deck right behind the cockpit/seat which would make it good for attaching a milk crate to. Get a milk crate and use some thick zip ties to attach it somehow to the deck and you would have some easy to access space like to throw a fish or two in as your spearing and still in the water. Put a dive flag on and such... It looks fine to me and like you said its a great deal so grab it and if nothing else let a friend (diving or non-diving) use it. Or just hook and line fish from it when vis is bad. Heck I'm no expert on this and having only kayaked a couple of times even probably not much help but thought I'd comment. I just got my first sit on top dive kayak. You can see pics of my progress on getting it refurbished in this section its the Vitog Nomad Dive Board. I saw a pic or the Heritage with a rack made of what looks like PVC attached to the deck behind the seat. Here's the link to the pic. May give ya some idears!

Re: Heritage Fisherman 14

Ok my first time in the water on the Nomad or on the water in the Nomad. It was really cool but too many variables and I was no good for diving today. I'm sure you will be fine and have a great time. My suggestion is for the first time you go out try to be familiar with each part of the Kayak and your gear. Make sure your gear is organized and that everything is in it's place.

Bought the kayak today. Looks good and needs just a few modifications to get it started for diving. I think it will work out! Thanks for the suggestions. Since I'm new to this, any info helps a lot! Thanks again!
