Thinking of switching it up!!! 2 bands to 1!
I shoot a Riffe Euro 100. Thinking of going from 2 5/8" bands to a single 3/4 band. My good friend shots his like that and I wanted to give it a try. The bands are 24" long. For Quicker reloads etc. if any one else is doing this or has any info please share.

It will work. Is the single 3/4 inch band 24 inches or are your 5/8's 24 inches?

I think that a 3/4" band will only have ~70% the power of 2-5/8" bands (calculated based on cross-sectional area). So you either need to cut it shorter, get a lighter shaft, or give up shaft speed.

Re: Thinking of switching it up!!! 2 bands to 1!
not a rifee so take this with a grain of salt...i have two Rob Allens..i use 2 23"5/8 bands on my 120cm...i love the gun, i love the power I love being able to take one band off and shoot into holes...on my other RA, a 90cm, I have one 20" 3/4" band..I have less power and less speed, but this gun has less range anyways and I have a 7mm shaft on it vs a 7.5mm shaft on the 120cm...the 90cm is used for shallow reef work and there a fast reload is worth more than range or power since i can get close to my prey usually and they arent usually monsters.
the two guns shoot differently and aim differently with the different band set up, so expect a learning perios when making any changes to your rig for your big gun, the loss of power might actually effect your hunting. |

Re: Thinking of switching it up!!! 2 bands to 1!
I was using 2 5/8 x 24" bands. I am going to 1 3/4 x 24 band. I went a little smaller with the shaft. I just wanted 1 band for quicker loading. I primarily use it for Shallow reef 20-50ft. Occasional blue water. I also shoot it with a reel and only one wrap with the stringer for about 10 + foot range.

Re: Thinking of switching it up!!! 2 bands to 1!
That will work for shallow water, small fish, but for blue water use your thicker shaft, and add at least one more band. Usually 2 or 3 more. And use a double or triple wrap. You want to reach out there. A thin shaft wont go far and wont go through a fish except close up. On any of your band stretches, you want to be able to just hook the wishbone, if you can stretch it more, its too long, or too weak of a band. You can cut some off if its too long.

I use one 3/4 inch band for freeshafting. It is quicker to reload and not as likely to blow through a fish. You have to have good visibility and shot placement though.

Do you have problems with accuracy shooting with two bands? I just got a Euro 100 x and it seems to be deadly accurate with one 5/8 band but with both bands I seem to miss more often anyone else have this problem?

I had the same problem with my 90x I just used 2 9/16 bands instead and it was a huge diffrence in accuracy and recoil

With a 3/4" band the shaft is very important. You need a shaft with a rest tab to be able to keep your 3/4" band tight and powerful, yet loadable. For a Riffe 100x a 6.75mm shaft with 10cm less overhang and a 3/4" band is an excellent setup. I would highly recommend the America One 130cm 6.75mm shaft as it has a rest tab and is super accurate.
