Hello all, this is my first post on SB. I am new to the world of spearfishing and returning to the world of gigging. I found one of my favorite old gig heads from years past for smaller game, but I am having issues finding replacement prongs for it. Does anyone know where I should look or have any ideas. I fear I may have to start fabricating my own.
I am attaching a couple of pics of the gig in question. Thanks in advance!! |

Re: Gig Help
Frog gig. Try a fishing/hunting store that is near an area that has a lot of frog gigging, like the Everglades. You usually just replace the whole head. Looks OK to me.

Re: Gig Help
The points that are on it now are in good shape, but one of the reasons I always loved this head is because I could just change out prongs as needed. If I can't find replacements to fit it then I will go to a different type head. Thanks for your input, I will take a look at BassPro next time I am over that way.

Re: Gig Help
Ace Hardware out by me sells Gig heads. If you have one considerably closer to you than bass pro i'd check it out. Not sure if every ace has a fishing section, but the one by me sure does. As far as tips, cant say i know of any thing other than melting lead around big nails and cutting a barb into them, lol.

I hadn't thought about that, but I will check them out! Thanks for the tip Briguy. I also picked up some hooks that I am going to straighten to see how they work out.
