Slow bug'n report
Headed out of Sebastian at about 6:30 AM With Reeftails, Merk Grouperassasin to find smooth seas with a moderate 3’ to 4’ swell. Got about 1 mile from our first spot and the fog once again rolled in, not near as bad as last weekend but still giving me flash backs of the last time. This time I wasn’t as nervous due to the new dive alert hanging on my BC…
First drop was Merk and I. Only to find a couple of spiney’s, a slipper and mango’s. Did run into a 100 lb + jewfish that Merk that was on of the biggest grouper he has seen . Vis was like the Keys down to about 70’ then went to about 20’ horizontal. Temp a whapping 68 degrees and a ripping South current! Man that kicked our butts.Next up, Reeftails and Grouperassasin About the same but 4 slippers and a spiney on this one. Over and over the same, a little here and there until we all did three dives. Ended the day with 11 spiney’s, 9 slippers, 4 sheep’s 3 mango’s, a scamp and 3 fictitious trigger . Not the limit of lob’s we were after but still a nice day on the water. The catch of the day with Reeftails, Merk, Grouperassasin and I.

LOB, hats off to an enjoyable day on the water. Sounds like we had a little better weather then our friends up north.
It was sure deceiving as we were stroking towards the bottom thinking the vis rocks only to find out old man sea turned out the lights the last 20-30 feet. Those fictitious trigger fish. Twice I had one in the bag and the SOB slipped out while putting in a bug ...... I must have a hole in my bag. I sure wish someone would invent a stringer catch bag combo so I put stick those triggers where they belong. Yha I know, I could take both with me but I have enough shit hanging off my BC the way it is. I had some of those legs and antennas last night and they were mighty tasty. How do you get the meat out without getting poked by the spines? I did more damage to my hands at the dinner table then a whole days worth of diving. |

Good job guys.... LOB thanks again for the invite. I'm just starting to get over a bad case of the "worms".
3 of us are planning on doing a trip on Wed off Ponce, if you're interested PM me.

Talk to my bro, LOB. I'm sure he would work something out with you. Sounds like it might be a good time!
